Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin that is indicated when the foreskin of the penis cannot be retracted over the glans due to the narrowing of the foreskin orifice.
How Is the Surgery Performed?
Children are operated on under general anesthesia; adults, under local, spinal, or general anesthesia.
During the surgery, the outer and inner layers of the foreskin are excised circumferentially. Then the cut edges are closed up and sutured.
What Should Be Known After Surgery?
After the surgery, the wound should be redressed until it becomes dry. Good personal hygiene should be practiced.
